White, free-flowing crystalline powder; freely soluble in water and very slightly soluble in ethanol.

Nonnutritive sweetener; flavor enhancer.

9- Requirements & Analysis:-
Identification A. Add afew drops of sodium cobaltinitrite solution of 0.3 g of sample in 1 mL of glacial acetic acid and 5 mL of water. A yellow precipitate forms. B. Dissolve 10 mg of sample in 1000 mL of water. The solution shows an absorption maximum at 227 2 nm.
Assay Not less than 99.0% and not more than 101.0% of C4H4KNO4S after drying.
Fluoride Not more than 3 mg/kg.
Lead Not more than 1 mg/kg.
Loss on Drying Not more than 1.0%.
Organic Impurities Not more than 20 g/g of UV-active compounds.
pH of a 1:100 Solution Between 5.5 and 7.5.

Store in well-closed containers in a cool, dry place.
