colorless gas with a faint garlic-like odor. Easily ignited and burns with a sooty flame.

-80.7 °C & Flash point: 0 °F & Solubility: In water, 1200 mg/L at 25 °C; Slightly soluble in ethanol, carbon disulfide; soluble in acetone, benzene, chloroform & Vapor pressure = 40 atm at 16.8 °C.

Uses:-
An asphyxiant gas; intermediate for manufacture of vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, vinyl acetate, acrylates, acrylonitrile, acetaldehyde, perchloroethylene trichloroethylene, 1 ,+butanedioI, carbon black, welding and cutting metals.
Used for brazing, metallizing, hardening, flame scarfing, and local heating in metallurgy. The flame is also used in the glass industry. Chemically, acetylene is used in the manufacture of synthetic rubber, butyrolactone, vinyl alkyl ether, pyrrolidone.
A compressed gas used in the welding and cutting of metals; Was used as a general anesthetic in the 1920.
